The President of the Association of Rural Banks, Mr. Daniel Ohene Kwaku Owusu, has appealed to the Bank of Ghana (BoG) to re-consider reviewing its directive to rural and community banks (RCBs) to halt the payment of dividend for 2019/2020 financial year.
According to him, while the intention is to build up capital resources to beef up the capital base of banks in order for them to be able to take on more businesses or absolve any contingent losses, the implementation of the directive must be done in moderation.
He said RCBs that are operating in a ‘sound base’ and profitable should be excluded and allowed to pay dividend to its shareholders.
Female staff of rural and community banks across the country have been equipped with managerial and leadership capacity development skills.
The primary objective of the training programme is to support women in the industry to take up managerial and leadership roles and also for leaders of institutions to involve women in decision making.
